LCB Archive Update
Latvia Convention Bureau (LCB) in cooperation with Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIDA) and Riga Tourism Development Bureau / Meet Rīga (RTDB) organized a seminar for Latvia Conference Ambassadors (LCA).
A total of 127 participants from the Business and Event Tourism industry, state and municipal institutions, educational institutions, existing and potential LCA participated.
The seminar was the next step after the successful launch of LCA program at the LCA Forum in autumn 2020 to continue to raise awareness of LCA program and to promote cooperation between all parties.
At the opening of the seminar LIDA director Kaspars Rožkalns emphasized the importance of Business and Event Tourism and its contribution to the economy of Latvia, followed by a presentation by Inta Prauliņa, head of LIDA Foreign Markets Support Division on support for organizing conferences, congresses and seminars in Latvia.
A presentation on the digital solutions available today was made by Edgars Kuzmans, member of the board of LCB and creative director of 3K Management.
LCB board member and LCA program coordinator Galina Bukovska together with the director and leading researcher of Vidzeme University Institute of Social and Humanities Research Institute HESPI Agita Līviņa tried to answer the question “Why to become a LCA” and how Jūrmala city municipality can get involved in providing support for a conference in Jūrmala.
Marco van Itterzen from the International Association of Conferences and Congresses (ICCA), emphasized the importance of Ambassadors and statistics in attracting international events to Latvia.
The participants of panel discussion shared valuable experiences and insights how they successfully turned their conferences into virtual events last year, rather than canceled due to the global pandemic. Thanks to Dagna Grāvele from the Latvian Laboratory of Medical Medicine, Ilga Bērzkalna from JSC “Latvijas Valsts Meži” and Neil Kalniņš from 5G Techritory for inspiring stories and encouragement to the participants.
The survey of participants confirmed that the information obtained at the seminar was valuable and they will definitely participate in the next events for Latvia Conference Ambassadors.
