The Business and Events Tourism Cooperation Network is taking another important step toward strengthening Latvia’s position as a sustainable and competitive destination. Recently, the working group for the Sustainability Assessment Platform convened to review progress and shape the next stages of development.
During the meeting, participants were introduced to the research carried out by Vidzemes Augstskola on the creation, implementation, and testing of the platform. This study provided a valuable foundation for further discussions and decisions regarding the product’s development.
The working group carefully evaluated the proposed criteria for assessing sustainability within the business and events tourism sector. Constructive discussions led to a shared understanding of the most relevant indicators, ensuring that the platform will be both practical and effective for industry stakeholders.
In addition, participants agreed on a clear timeline for product development and highlighted the key challenges and risks that may arise during implementation. By anticipating these issues early on, the group is well-prepared to address them and maintain momentum toward a successful launch.
The Sustainability Assessment Platform is set to become a pioneering tool that supports Latvia’s commitment to sustainable growth in tourism. Through collaboration, expertise, and a forward-looking approach, the initiative will provide new opportunities for monitoring, improving, and communicating sustainability performance across the sector.
Latvia Convention bureau is implementing the project "Business and Event Tourism Cooperation Network" (Project No. 1.2.3.6/2/24/A/007) for the creation and implementation of a business cooperation network.
